Kraut und Rüben Cycle path

The well-signposted trail runs through the agricultural Vorderpfalz region, almost always within sight of the mountains of the Palatinate Forest, but without their ascents and descents. You cycle mostly through well-tilled fields and vineyards, often along streams and occasionally through shady woodland.

You will be amazed at the great variety of vegetables growing in the lush fields. You can sample and of course buy the produce at the farm shops and rural cafés and take what you have bought for a picnic at one of the many beautifully situated seating areas. The people of the Palatinate are hospitable and open-minded and are happy to invite interested people to visit their farms. You can also spend one or more days in this sun-drenched region and indulge yourself in the cycle-friendly restaurants.

The trail is 139 km long in total and runs from Bockenheim via Weisenheim am Sand, Gönnheim, Haßloch, Neustadt-Duttweiler, Altdorf, Zeiskam, Offenbach, Herxheim and Kandel to Schweigen-Rechtenbach to the German Wine Gate on the border with Elsass in France.
